Beauty + Hair Mask

Winter is in full swing here on the lake and my hair is not loving it..

Here's a recipe for an AMAZING DIY Hair Mask that you can make at home! Cheers to pampering yourself, your hair will thank you.

  • 1 Cup softened Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Honey
  • 10 Drops Meleluca Oil (Tea Tree)

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, making sure the coconut oil is softened. Consistency should be tacky but not liquid.
  2. Brush put your hair, wet or dry, then using both hands distribute all of the oil through your hair root to tip (I usually get my hair damp, I find the coconut oil goes on more evenly this way).
  3. Brush your hair again. Dampen a hand towel with hot water and wrap your hair up in it. Let your hair sit in the towel for at least one hour up to over night.
  4. Unwrap hair and hop in the shower. Wash & condition hair with hot water to get all leftover oils out.
  5. Finish with toweling dry and using maracan oil on tips of hair.

Maternity Fashion + Giveaway

I'm so excited to be partnering up this month with Pink Blush Maternity! Finding cute and comfortable pregnancy clothing was tough the first go around, until I found Pink Blush!

So when you really start to show and can no longer squeeze yourself into your pre-prego clothing you're faced with the dinging task of finding maternity clothes. To me it seemed like every maternity shop I found thought pregnant women should live in lifeless moo-moos for 9 months, and that just wasn't going to work for this girl.

When I came across pink blush I was beyond excited because ONE, they had fashionable maternity clothes and TWO, their clothes are AFORDABLE! (Let's be honest, your only wearing this stuff for 9 months-and with babe on the way your not going to be breaking the bank for a whole new wordrobe for mama).

Here are a few of my pregnancy staples from Pink Blush:

Baby Boy Nursery Decor

With our new addition fast approaching we decided to move Vienna out of the Nursery and into a new 'big girl room'. She's beyond excited to have her new big girl bed and is now obsessed with all things 'big girl'. Transitioning Vienna's adorable Princess Pink & Gold nursery to a now Aviator Navy & Silver was surprisingly super easy!

First when we moved her to the new room we moved all of her decor with her. Leaving all the bones of our nursery (Crib, Changing Table, Dresser, Rocking Chair & Shelfs).

Next I bought new curtains, crib mattress sheet & changing table cover all in Navy Blue. Then I added in fun nic-nacks on the shelfs, a clock, small wood helicopter and airplanes, a baby fedora etc.

Finally, my favorite addition, the blue airplane decals! For Vienna we had put up adorable gold hearts, I went a little bolder this time and am so glad! The airplanes are large enough to be a statement piece but don't take away from the rest of the decor.

35 Weeks + Inducing Labor Naturally at Home

Oh the dreaded last month of pregnancy. Here I am in my second pregnancy at the home stretch. There are so many different old wives tales about ways to induce labor naturally, but I thought I'd share a few of the things I've used in both of my pregnancys to help induce labor naturally.

Raspberry leaf - Taken either as a tea or pill. Start at about 34 weeks. Opinion is divided as to whether it will start labor, but it definitely strengthens the uterus, leading to a (hopefully) shorter labor, because each contraction can achieve more. It has been shown in a few different studies to shorten the second stage of labor, pushing.

Evening primrose oil - Can be taken orally from 35 weeks on or used internally from 38 weeks. If you decide to go with the second route, I would recommend doing it at night and using a pantyliner. However keep in mind that it DOES have risks, so do your own research.

Clary sage oil - Research shows that clary sage oil can help promote labor and relieve pain. Massage into lower abdomin at 38 Weeks.

  1. 1 Ounce Glass bottle
  2. 8 Drops Clary Sage Essential Oil
  3. 5 Drops Lavender Essential Oil
  4. 3 Drops Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
  5. Fractionated Coconut Oil

Stretch and sweep of membranes - Your midwife or doctor can perform this simple procedure. A finger is inserted into the cervix and a gentle 'sweep' of the finger slightly separates the uterus wall and amniotic sac, sometimes leading to labor within hours or days. How well it works can also depend on if you are very far dilated or not.

Massage - Find a massage therapist qualified to work with pregnant women. Many will know various points to massage to induce labor. This is why massage is not recommended during the early stages of pregnancy.

Squats - Doing a few of these each day often helps to move the baby down and into position. Squats use gravity to push the baby downwards, thereby jumpstarting your birth naturally.

Walking - The bumping up and down can help the baby move into the birth canal. In fact, this is one of the few ways that most doctors agree on for starting labor. If walking doesn't work, try walking up and down stairs. Lifting your legs further in its range of motion can help further push the baby downward.

Yoga - Many places offer special classes for all stages of pregnancy. I'm a fan of yoga, especially during pregnancy because it helps you connect to what your body is feeling, helps your ability to quiet your mind and gets you practicing your breathing! There are a number of different yoga positions & flows that help move baby down the birth canal.

Sperm - Sex, this is a good start towards getting ready for labor. The sperm contains natural prostaglandins that help soften and dilate the cervix.

Orgasms - Orgasms cause contractions which is one of the reasons they feel so good. It's also why many women enjoy orgasms more during pregnancy!

Wine - Wine helps release oxytocin, one of the hormones that signals the body to go into labor.

Hubby Holiday Gift Guide

Every Wife & Girlfriend when it gets close to Christmas time is bound to ask this question: 'What do you buy the man who has everything?!'

Stop your searching now, I've got you covered girl!

For the man that has it all, already.

1.  JORD Wood Watch  (Frankie - Koa & Ash Pictured)

Men can ALWAYS use a new watch. There's a watch for every occasion, but what i LOVE about the Wood watch is it can so easily be dressed up or dressed down! Jon can wear his to a business work meeting, get home and change into jeans and a tee to head out for dinner and not think twice about his watch.

I chose to get him the Koa & Ash from the Frankie series because it matches his wardrobe best (he wears lots of grey).

Price: Originally $189 - Use code J16MEAGANKLUDT25 for $25 off + Free Shipping!

2. Philips Sonicare Seriese 2 (Blue Pictured)

Men (okay MOST men) have a hard time pampering themselves, I thought a nice upgrade to a new electric toothbrush was the perfect, not too feminine and not so cliche as an electric razor. For the price I totally think this is the best deal on the market right now.

Price: Regularly $70 - Now on sale for $40 at Target

3. Cary on Cocktail Kit (Moscow Mule Pictured)

For the cute fun stocking stuffier gift, the Cary on Cocktail Kit is PERFECT!

Price: $24 - Or Order two and get them for $40

4. Birdling Bags Overnighter (Navy Bag Pictured)

Birdling Bags are one of my all time fav products. I use their Weekender Bag every time we travel, it has the perfect size divided compartments on the inside which make sharing a bag with our daughter super easy and organized (hallelujah! says this OCD mama), Jon has commented a few times on how nice it is, his packing needs are not quite what mine are so i figured the Overnighter would be the perfect size for him & his quick business trips!

Price: $175 - Receive 10% off if you sign up for their newsletter!

5. Ascot Suede Men's Slipper at Nordstrom (Espresso Pictured)

House Slippers, not sure if they're a 'thing' in your home but we wear ours daily, which means they are well loved come every December! Jon has tried a few different brands out but always goes back to his Man Uggs! Great quality, easy to break in but also last all year!
